After all, we write wedding vows. We repeat them and we read them in front of everyone who attends the ceremony! 

Yes, we face the one we are committing our life to, and we repeat our vows to them. But in a wedding, it is not only to them, it is in the hearing and in the sight of all who attend! Above all, it is before God!

A vow is defined as a solemn promise.

Something that is solemn is formal and dignified, and it comes with deep sincerity. It is not a time to laugh. It is a time to be serious and make a commitment.

The reception after the wedding, after the vows have been made, is a party! It’s a time to celebrate and laugh and dance, and have fun! But the vows themselves are solemn. They are to be taken seriously and with dignity and respect.

An oath is a sworn declaration that is made with a commitment to abide by the rules and to be trustworthy! 

A doctor takes an oath to be held in his character and conduct to the highest of standards!

A promise is something we make that is a pledge to do the right thing no matter what! 

Too often, a promise is made lightly and almost as a matter of common day language without the gravity that a true promise should hold!

More importantly, and most important of all this is the covenant promise that we make to God when we commit our lives to Him!

So, for me the V in THRIVE IN 2025, is VOW!

In order to thrive with God in 2025, I believe that we need to recommit ourselves to keep our VOWS, OATHS and PROMISES! And above all our COVENANT with God!

“WHO KEEPS THEIR VOW, (promise, oath), even when it hurts and does not change their mind.” Psalm 15:4

For my marriage and my family, we committed the VOW, long ago, to God as Joshua did way back when….

“But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15b

I believe in order to THRIVE with God, we must recommit to and keep our vows before Him!

Our acronym to THRIVE, has but one letter left:
